Boardwalk Empire (2010 - Present): Review By Bane. Ferguson

Bored Watch, Directed by Marty stay off Directing T.V is a dull, tedious, flamboyantly stupid new HBO series i loathe. On Sky Atlantic (in UK) it has released Blue Bloods, Treme, and the masterfully, beautifully crafted You Dont Know Jack, has also released this tosh, also by passing the first off as a Martin Scorsese piece of masterful work, well i have to say judging by this opening, starring Steve Buscemi, and other well known faces throughout, Lily Macdonald, i am not impressed. It is about the young days of Capone, his rising from a street fug to the well fashioned pimped out player he goes on to be. It tries to be smart, and standardized but the opening is drill, setting up these characters to be not as they should be, but following the other episodes it has blossomed and is well paced directed by to watch the opener and expect brilliance it isn't.

Throughout the series you see the rise of gangs, thugs and juvenile, and delinquency, the methods of madness and democracy, and leadership. It also packs a punch, with its brutality, especially throughout, but here i am just saying the over the top oh my gosh a director who is on form is directing an opener of such great praise oh my gosh just brings the lunacy forwards. Its the hype that got me, i'll admit it, and felt daft to have expected something of more than just a dull opening, i expected Martins flaunty rhythm, of logical and symbolic directing, capturing this theme of crime he has done so many times.
