"Da Boom" is about the Y2K problem, which leads to an unexpected yet funny explosion, causing the griffins - and the whole of the town (and earth) - to seek for food as they are running out. That's not really what they thought it was going to be. Before that, they bought a life-time supply pack for food, but Peter ate all of it. Then, he becomes massively huge and 'has to poop'. This is one of the 'jokes' or 'moments' where I'd probably just laugh my ass off.

Meanwhile, Quagmire is somehow linked together with Cleveland; Joe is trapped in the floor; and the Griffins drive away.

One of Family Guy writers' best ways to produce humor is at randomness. It just gets funny. Well, The Simpsons also use this, but lets focus on this episode... At a Twinkie factory far away from Quahog, Rhode Island, the Griffins recreate a community because of the food and areas they can find. Peter's "pick-a-job-from-the-hat-you-won't-get-what-you-want-if-you're-not-lucky" system doesn't seem to be working out so good, so the community is full of unsuitable jobs for the wrong people.

Meanwhile, in the other plot, Stewie has a problem being an octopus, stealing their guns from the new town which were made by Peter - to which the people do not want - and screwing things up.

Overall, I find this episode hilarious and hope to see more of this in season 9 onwards... That's where it started becoming unfunny.
