Great that the show is coming back, but this TV movie was a little weak.

Ah, it could have been so much better...

What seemed to me like a great opportunity for 24 to make it's grand re-entrance onto the TV scene, seemed a bit wasted with what didn't mount up to more than an extended episode of the show.

We've seen it all before, yet this time, the action never built from anywhere. Jack was pretty much on vacation in South Africa. He hangs out with some kids. Talks some serious business with his long lost war buddy, and bam, he and everything his vacation is about is under attack.

I'd rather have seen Jack in some serious hiding. Danger lurking everywhere, and Jack watching his every move. Instead we're served with some explosive sequences, all of which we've come to expect from 24, so nothing earth-shattering enough to make us go "wow".

All-in-all, this "TV movie" wet my appetite again for the show, but what really gets me pumped is what we're seeing in trailer for the upcoming season where Jack seems to be doing the majority of his fighting from Washington DC.

When the hell is the U.S. government gonna give the guy a free pass? I mean come on, does he really have to be a dangerous, uncontrollable rogue agent at the beginning of every season? I mean, he's saved the world 7 times now.

Come on!

Yea it seem like some sh*t they threw together just to make an intro to the season while making a buck.

lol, yes this says most of it except for the part where we acknowledge the absolute waste of acting talent that is Robert Carlyle. I mean what was the point in such a great actor doing... nothing???
