After a few weeks without episodes, this past Thursday (February 4th) aired "Sabre". After Dunder Mifflin was bought out by a company named Sabre owned by Jo Bennett. The new rules and ways of Bennett hit Michael Scott hard when computer techs block work-wasting websites like Twitter and Youtube. One of Bennett's top workers give each the office workers a complimentary container to keep water inside of, rather than getting up to get water-which wastes time.
Michael decides to visit David Wallace, a former executive of Dunder Mifflin. Wallace, has grown a beard and plans to build an empire called "Suck It" with a weird explanation as to what it is, exactly. Michael spends some hours there but realizes, as he nervously drives away, that it wasn't the man he knew before.
Meanwhile Jim Halpert and his wife Pam search for a daycare center to place their baby in (which Pam is pregnant with). At a well-known, daycare center, Jim walks around to take a look at the place and looks into a children's bathroom to find the director using it. This image creates an awkward interview between Jim, Pam and the director.
The episode isn't as funny as previous episodes but does give off as one of the series' strong episodes. It produces character growth and a strange and eccentric turning point in the series. Hopefully this doesn't evolve into a possible cancellation. Kathy Bates guest stars as Jo Bennett, she is seen only through a video chat to which she talks to Michael only. Christian Slater guest stars as himself in a commercial video for Sabre. Andy Buckley guest stars as David.
In the final clip of the episode, David Wallace is seen with his son (playing the drums) creating the theme music for Suck It.
