Season 4: Episode 1- "Beetles"

This episode is the very first one aired of season four of Tales from the Darkside. If you enjoy this series, then this episode is definitely along the same lines. It definitely has that campy, yet slightly creepy ending, and is entertaining.

It is about this archeologist who encounters a mummy with some rare diamonds (or something along the lines of diamonds) inside it's eye sockets. This archeologist is warned not to take them out by this creepy guy, who seems to know quite a bit about the mummy, and the "curse" involved with it. Of course, the archeologist does not head the warning, and takes them out anyways. Then, weird beetles start popping up in random places! I suppose a wrath of beetles is the curse. I know I am not a fan of bugs, spiders, etc, so the actor definitely had some guts to be around beetles, and let them crawl all over him.

However, despite the actor's bravery, he is not a very good one. Most of the acting in this series is rather cheesy, and it shines through and through in this episode. But hey, I think it adds somewhat of a charm to the episode.

The directing of this episode is very plain. I feel the directing and camera angles brought to this episode were pretty average, and the actor carried the film more so than anyone else. As for replay value, I felt this was a very entertaining episode, so when I do a run thorough of this series again, some time in the future, I'll certainly be happy to view this one again!
