What a season, definitely one of my favorites, though it's hard to top Season 4. I won't give a full detailed description of what happened all I can say is this didn't top last year's season finale of Dexter (and let's be serious I don't think anything could) but it was done extremely well. We started hoping Dexter had found his soul mate later this season with Lumen (Julia Stiles) and after he comes to her rescue and dispatch Jordan Chase we begin to get this feeling of hope that Dexter and Lumen could possibly be together. But like all things in Dexter's world, fair tales don't exist. Lumen finally tells Dexter that her dark passenger is now gone and she needs to leave now. Dexter heartbroken realizes that they are not the same and tells her he will carry her dark passenger for her. Everything with Deb comes full circle as well. This season we finally got to see Deb become something much more than the foul mouthed smart detective, her character truly evolved, we started to notice this after she had shot and killed Carlos Fuentes after she and Dexter talked and she agreed that maybe some people deserve to die. After 5 seasons we finally see what Deb's character had been building up for, that exact moment after she had the vigilantes (Dexter and Lumen) caught and let them go (without seeing their faces or knowing who they were). Some will complain that this finale was unsatisfying after last year's a may complain about no cliffhanger ending. But as I see this episode come to full circle I am happy to see Dexter start with a completely clean slate for next season. Bravo all around for another great season of Dexter. Can't wait till Season 6!

I was pretty satisfied with how it ended. Season 5 is only a middle chapter in the series, so it didn't really need to wrap anything up. I knew Lumen was going to leave him once they killed Chase (and I was glad she was the one to kill him), so that was expected. Good emotion between them, though, before she left. I felt sad for Dex, he had finally found someone who knew the "real" him, through and through, and it didn't destroy her, either.
