Season 19: Episode 11
When a new, tough-looking kid at school named Donny teams up with Bart to help him carry out his pranks, Bart thinks he has found his ultimate partner in crime. However, when Bart's seemingly foolproof pranks begin to backfire, Groundskeeper Willie warns Bart that he smells a rat in Bart's group of friends. With Principal Skinner on his case and the possibility of expulsion on the horizon, Bart must figure out who he can trust and who he must get rid of before it is too late. Meanwhile, Homer receives a fancy loaner car after Marge damages their old car in an accident, and he grows extremely attached to his new set of luxury wheels.

Though the Kurt Cobain parody of homer is a clever storyline the fact is, as the show ages and the characters don't flashback eps just don't work, hang on! They went to college in the 90's, I just watched and episode they went in the 70's! Sadly, 2 stars.

The Simpsons began in the 80s and made note of the year throughout the series of that; just last season in "Homerazzi" for example when they are recreating a 1987 family picture. But as none of the characters age, the contradiction remains a joke in itself. But again, there are some wrongdoings with tracking Homer and Marge back to the 90s. Sadgasm is a funny band name and quite ironic for the type of music they play, but with a Back to the Future reference tying to Kurt Cobain's invention of Grunge, a few more contradictions come up. Kurt Cobain started Nirvana back in the 80s and even released an album in 1989. But I suppose this is fine as Grunge was a big part of the 90s, not 80s. Although, toward the end of the episode Homer fills us in that this blast to the past episode took place in the late 90s as he says "the 90s are almost over." But as I remember this is a cartoon and made to entertain and not be taken seriously, I can leave my objections under a door mat and enjoy the hell out of this funny episode which is still one of my favorites of the season.
