A fine finish to the freshman season. It is a good thing that USA doesn't have the same unreasonable expectations for a first-outing that the big 4 have...or this would be a thing of the past.

While acting, direction and story all had trouble during the season, the net has turned out a reasonably watchable bit of Sunday night entertainment that is fine filler for those nights of the week that you're not watching (in this order):
Burn Notice
Psych
or...
Monk
Basically, with all the other garbage on the tube in the summer (or NOT on in the summer, take your pick), this show has gotten my attention and captured my belief that the best is yet to come...as the show, its writers and cast find their 'groove'.
In this, the final ep for the 1st season, Mary and her terribly screwed up family unwind under the pressure of FBI scrutiny and threat of potential death-by-Spanky.
In the end, we find that Mary IS, in fact, willing to help her screwed up mother and sibling and really IS just as entitled to be self-righteous as she always thought.
**SPOILER**
Raph, though, turns out to be the big hero, "blowing" new lines all over the ball field with some high-grade crystal...
I love it when a plan comes together.
We continue to see the implausible...like the softening of Spanky's heart over a 'love'(?)-child that he never knew about...and a stupid decision made in haste by Mary, a woman who seems to make all the right (well-thought-out) moves (except where a wit-sec protectee's penis and her sister's drugs are concerned)...
Here's hoping that the 2nd season WILL step it up a notch with better work in front of and behind the camera.
Thanks, USA, for letting the series get it all worked out over a couple of years, instead of engaging in premature e-cancelization like your big-net counterparts.
