TICKET or SKIP IT: 'Lockout'

This recycled sci-fi action film about a prison in space turns out to be a surprisingly fun time worthy of a whole bucket of popcorn.

Welcome to our new web series: Ticket or Skip It. Reporting from his room aboard the USS Echo, a small submarine heading for Tel Aviv, comes reviewer Corey Wood, who has agreed to grace us on a weekly basis with an update of all the new films hitting cinemas around the world (which he gets to watch via satellite in a private screening room aboard this seafaring vessel).

This week, Corey takes a look at Lockout, starring Guy Pearce as the only man who can save the President's daughter (Maggie Grace) from a space prison where the inmates have escaped. Check out Episode 1: Lockout to hear Corey Wood's thoughts on the film, debate the idea of Guy Pearce playing Nathan Drake in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and then decide if you should: Ticket or Skip It

@slysnide I think one problem with that idea is that it's the same movie for one month. I couldn't see talk of one movie dragging on that long. But I'm glad you're behind this. :P

@corey: This is an awesome gig.

@ROFLitschristian: I recall some users had that same idea where they'd pick a film for the month, watch it, then discuss it in the forums while they were all online to keep the conversation going over a period of a few hours instead of days. Granted webcams and instant messages are better suited for that. But it's a nice idea nonetheless.

@corey nice one, dude. But this one is getting a skip for it for this week, haha.

My tickets this week are 'Marley' & 'Avengers' for the third time :)

@ROFLitschristian One way of it working is having MW on Google+ that way we can do multiple video chats for the debate session.

@ROFLitschristian At first I thought you wrote "Date Night" and then I noticed it was really "Debate Night". I like the idea, should be fun to do if it happens.

@moviegeek Yeah. This'll sound dorky, but like how Roosterteeth does Game Night every few weeks or so. For example Tues. 8pm central. etc. etc.

@ROFLitschristian -- I love that idea. I really think the Movieweb team should take that into consideration.

As I posted in the other Lockout thread...

I wanted to like this movie (I like Guy in most of his stuff). Sad to report, this movie was utter garbage. CGI was SyFy TV level stuff. The editing was horrible. Huge plot holes. Cheap sets - you could see them move when bumped into or hit. The story was a long string of cliche's loosely strung together. Real disappointment. Better luck on your next outing Mr. Pearce.

@ROFLitschristian That sounds like a good idea. It's hard to find a time when everyone is available. But if it was like a live feed sort of thing...

Something I've though about maybe putting into effect since I first joined Movieweb was Debate Night. Like on a specific date the current party leader would pick a film and then everyone can log on to some created page here on Movieweb (preferably with a webcam but chat would work to) and we just kind of chat about it. And it can be any film. Doesn't have to be a weekly, monthly, etc. event, but just a nowandagain type thing.

    What do you guys think?
