Diaigma and Dark enV said it spot on. Personally friends, I think that Twilight will actually still win the weekend, however, TLA will out beat Eclipse in the overall World-Wide gross. Think of the other facts. Twilight has major audiences in America, Britain and other countries where white is a minority. Proven fact. However, TLA has a huge fan base around the world, from Australia to Japan as does Shyamalan, Not to sure is Jackson Rathbone has a big following, and they didn't show much of him in the trailer but I a sure he will contribute viewers as well.

So yes Eclipse will make a lot of money, but WW gross wise ,and story wise, and probably even acting wise, TLA will be the true champ. Cheers folks.

The trailer looked decent, but thats what I thought about new moon. And personally I found that movie to be insufferable. Scenery A+, Acting F-. this movie is best as a trailer. I might kill myself if i try to watch the whole thing.

I think you've just earned yourself a spot in the Order of the White Lotus, my friend.
Spoken with much truth and wisdom, indeed. GJ, man. :P

That's a factor I didn't think about. The Avatar: Airbender series wasn't episodic, meaning that every episode revealed plot details that tied together like a huge epic, for three seasons. It's the ONLY TV show I've seen that had a definitive character and story arch and had an actual ending. You know, unlike the rushed type, or the "we're getting canceled so we better pull something out of our ass quick and wrap this up" type. By the time the final episodes aired, Aang vs. The Firelord, Nickelodeon had it's largest viewing audience ever, an estimated 30 million. If even half of those viewers went and saw Airbender on its first weekend, it will more than earn back its budget (85-100 million) in one shot.

There you have it. Airbender getting "destroyed" by twilight is not up for debate. :P

@moviemaniack1993, well let's examine something, New Moon made half of it's money in it's first three days of release, Eclipse will probably be no different other than it might make 30-40% of it's total upfront as I'm already guaranteeing the film will do better than the other two. Now to your comment on The Last Airbender being 2010s Speed Racer?! You've gone off the deepend, both are completely different and should in no way mentioned in the same sentence. Airbender has a set story (hence each season is titled as either Book 1,2, or 3) the show was designed in my opinion as a large film, it was destined to come to the big screen, Diaigma is 100% right, the show is still fresh on people's minds unlike Speed Racer was. Will Eclipse do better? Well let's think for a minute, as a whole for it's first 3 days I think so, for the weekend I don't, only because Eclipse is being released two days before Airbender so it'll lose some of it's steam before it approaches the weekend, and Airbender has a very good chance to take the weekend title but overall I know Eclipse will in the end do better than Airbender will, but Airbender in my opinion will still do very well overall.
Mark MY words as well, Eclipse won't destroy Airbender, beat it out maybe but NOT destroy.

The whole twilight things, both the movies and the books, to me felt like they're rushed. The ideas and all that are quite the same in all the stories, just like what "Big Brother Griot" said. And that made people like "The Kwisatz Haderach" "UNoLazyboy" and so as myself to rate this movie as "MEGA CRAP" It is not a well thought out franchise if it has only Cheesy Love, Hate, Jealous, Revenge as the main focus. That only restricts the movie as a money sucker, only created to suck every loose penny from Mr. and Mrs. Average Knuckle Heads.

Another movie that will make millions of dollars even though there is no acting talent there except for the really hot Kristen Stewart who deserves someone better than robert "I'm a piece of sh*t who can't act for a damn" pattinson, hopefully there's a great movie that will destroy any records that these twilight movies get.

The stories themselves are interesting but the books aren't well written and the films aren't either. No matter what way you look it The Twilight Saga is mostly hype little substance.

    ::sigh:: the absolute type . . .

Yes, because of Slumdog, silly :P

Will Airbender be like Speed Racer? Not at all. The problem with Speed Racer was that it's a 60's Anime show. Making a movie of it 40 years later is problematic because the fan base that the show catered to are freak'en 50 now, and today's kids don't get it or appreciate the references that the film made too the show. Airbender, on the other hand, finished its last season two years ago. The kids (and adults) who love the show are still kids (and the adults are not much older). The show is still very popular, with demands for more seasons or a new story in the Avatar universe going on. The fan base is fresh. I don't know if you've seen the show or know anything about it, but if you did, you'd understand where I'm coming from.

A couple bad eggs isn't enough for me to lose faith in a director. If you have, that's you, but there are many who are still routing for him. I love Night's work, minus his last two. He's a young director, and Airbender isn't one of his original ideas. It's an adaption, another plus, which we have yet to see him do. We also know that he's not going to have a crazy twist at the end or make a cameo appearance in Airbender. The question is, can he take an already established/awesome storyline and make it awesomer, like Jackson did to LOTR? I think he's capable and he may prove to you naysayers yet that he's still got it.

Airbender will do well. Twilight will make more, I'm sure, but it won't "destroy" Aribender.
Trust ME and mark MY words :P

Lol Pattel's growing popularity? What because of Slumdog. And as someone who used to love Shyamalan he's lost his touch. Trust me. Airbender will be 2008s Speed Racer

No one can argue that Twilight will rule that weekend, but to say it will destroy Airbender is nonsense. Airbender will still do very well, as it has three large fan bases to cater to: The show's, the director's, and Jasper's. Not to mention Patel's growing popularity :P

  27. Dr. Cinema

Well I'm not going to bash the film or the series. However, the film and the books alike have no depth. I mean where is no intrigue. It just seems to me that these movies are all the same (Bella loves Edward=Edward struggling to deal with that love=jealous Jacob who also loves Bella, Victoria wants revenge=Vulatri (I'm sure I didn't spell that right) want Bella to be a vampire) This is not a spoiler this is a summation of the two previous films and books, and it looks like the same thing for the next film. It has a lot of potential but its just too one-dimensional for me, but to those Twilight Heads out there hopefully you won't be disappointed with this entry. I say this with sincerity.

  29. the Narrator

@Vamp. If I were to want to see this, it'd be only or Bryce Dallas Howard and because it's by David Slade. There's no other draw for me.

@Josh, agreed. It has such potential but they put it to such a waste with its incredible cheesy dialogue, and then of course, Taylor Lautner, (I can't stand him). Krsten Stewart's cute, but she can't act as Bella well. She did good in Panic Room and Adventureland. I blame the screenwriters.

The only decent actor here is Robert Pattinson (and the only cool character) but again his dialogue is soooo cheesy.

Overall, this teaser did nothing for me. I am glad for the Bryce Dallas Howard switch out, and Slade coming on board, but I really don't see anything that is really a catch for the person who's not a fangirl..
