‘The Sapphires’ Poster with Chris O’Dowd

Four Aboriginal singers go on a journey to entertain Vietnam War troops in director Wayne Blair’s upcoming comedy based on a true story.

The Weinstein Company has unveiled the new poster for The Sapphires, director Wayne Blair's musical comedy that brought down the house at the Cannes Film Festival last year, reportedly receiving a 10-minute standing ovation. The movie is based on the true story of four Aboriginal singers (Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy, Shari Sebbens, and Miranda Tapsell) who travel behind enemy lines to entertain U.S. Vietnam War troops in 1968, lead by their Irish manager Dave (Chris O'Dowd). The Sapphires was released March 22nd, 2013 and stars Chris O'Dowd, Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy, Shari Sebbens, Miranda Tapsell, Tory Kittles, Eka Darville, Lynette Narkle. The film is directed by Wayne Blair.
