Legendary East has postponed production on The Great Wall from a fall shooting start to next spring. New plot details also reveal that this period piece will feature supernatural elements that tie into the mystery behind China constructing The Great Wall. Take a look at the plot rundown.

"Set in 15th century China, The Great Wall is about British warriors who happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn't just to keep out the Mongols - there is something inhuman and more dangerous. The picture is based on an idea by Legendary CEO Thomas Tull and Max Brooks."

We reported last week that Benjamin Walker joined the cast, alongside Henry Cavill, although no character details were given. Chinese actress Ziyi Zhang is also being courted for a role, although it isn't known if negotiations have started yet.

Edward Zwick is directing from a screenplay by Marshall Herskovitz. The production delay was made because the weather conditions in China and New Zealand will be more manageable in the spring.

The Great Wall comes to theaters November 23rd, 2016 and stars Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Tian Jing, Hanyu Zhang, Eddie Peng, Lu Han. The film is directed by Yimou Zhang.
