@redcameraman Really? Well that is pretty understandable. It's not for everyone :P

@crypt: I figured you'd like it, but eh, it looks cheesy to me. I didn't care that much for the original either. I've only seen bits-and-parts of it and couldn't get into it really. :-/

@monkeyiron2-0 relax man that line came from The Mummy.

As for this film, I see it as a sequel and ignoring the remake aspect of it.

@Nicholaus - That Arrogant Sham! I understand what you're saying but there were some self mutilations in the original. They're just taking it over the top. We'll have to see. I can see the vibe that you're talking about. The only thing I don't like is that it seems to be quick and in your face. The original took some time to get started to set the mood and I think that that's why the original gets so many accolades from fans like myself. All I can say is, after years of our asking for a sequel, this is what he got. It all we have right now, so eat the dish they served you or push it away. @skywise, love that term "Evil Deadish".

that was just- something else its not trying to be Raimis its trying to be a new era of horror- its something im telling you- and to put it in league with hostile and everything else is a sham- dont go hating this before you have finally watched it- evil dead is one of them ost impacting series going- this to me looks far out_ Nick doesnt know what it means to make a horror movie in obvious lookings. ITS NOT TORTURE PORN!

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx i will still check this out just out of curiosity but what I have seen so far doesnt really feel Evil Deadish.

I saw Martyrs and it is a very unique movie. Its got a litle something for any horor fan and is quite disturbing in some places. Unfortunatly., with all that you have heard about how good it is you might be disapointed. I feel that the more hype a film gets, the higher my expectations....the quicker those expectations are shattered. I prefer going in to a movie not having seen or read much about it.

@ROFLitschristian -- Have you ever seen the film "Martyrs"? I heard it was good, and there's a couple of gruesome clips of it on Youtube. If you think this is bad, wait until you get a load of that. I recommend doing so.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Nah. It's like I said earlier, this trailer may be the first horror anything to make me actually feel fright out of sheer nastiness. Nothing ever grosses me out.

@ROFLitschristian -- Ah. I just thought it'd be an appropriate comparison alongside something of this....kin?

    @vanboy -- Only because:

    A) It's a remake in 2012, of a horror movie, at that.
    B) The vibe/trailer.
    C) It's a horror movie in 2012.

After watching this trailer, could you seriously post that with a straight face? How many images of self-mutilation alone did we witness in such a short trailer? It's a tip of the iceberg, from my standpoint.

@Nicholaus - That Arrogant Sham! why are you hating on The Evil Dead? You're hating on a large crowd, and The Evil Dead is not Hostile, which IS porn torture fare. These are demon possesed people who kill from a demon standpoint, not because they're twisted Humans who want to get off on taking a person's life in some twisted way.

@john-m In France at least, there is a "scary movie" genre, as opposed to a "horror movie" genre. Slashers, ghost etc. are subcategories of those two.

@monkeyiron2-0 you must not read from that book 'it's cursed I tell you'.
In my mind this isn't a remake it's a sequel, Ash's daughter. Looking forward to it anyway.

It kinda looks like their staying true to some of the material in the classic but jus adding way to much gore, I may still chaeck this out

    Self-mutilation? Check.

    Over-the-top gore? Check.

    Absent plot? Check.

    Cliched horror movie elements? Check.

Another torture porn flick in the making.

@ROFLitschristian -- You're a huge fan of The Human Centipede, and Saw, I'll take?

@the-movieghost@skywise -- It'll suck, but it kind of looks entertaining. But, it's tough to say, at this point. Nonsensical, over-the-top scenes of violence can only be amusing for so long.
