'The Equalizer' Finds Its Villain in Marton Csokas

The actor will play a Russian mafia fixer who tangles with Denzel Washington in director Antoine Fuqua's action-thriller.

Marton Csokas (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) has signed on to play the main villain in Sony Pictures' The Equalizer.

Denzel Washington stars as Robert McCall, a former intelligence officer who now lives a solitary existence while holding down a job at Home Depot. He is forced to spring back into action when an act of kindness towards a teenage prostitute (Chloe Moretz) lands him in hot water with the Russian mafia. Marton Csokas will play a deadly fixer for the Russian mob.

Antoine Fuqua is directing from a screenplay by Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2), which is based on the CBS TV series The Equalizer starring Edward Woodward that ran from 1985 to 1989. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in Boston.

Marton Csokas recently starred in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Pawn, and the DirecTV series Rogue. He will next be seen in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The Equalizer comes to theaters September 26th, 2014 and stars Chloe Moretz, Denzel Washington, Melissa Leo, Haley Bennett, Marton Csokas, Vladimir Kulich, Johnny Messner, Robert Wahlberg. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua.
