'The Dark Knight Rises' Enlists the League of Shadows?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's unknown character may team up with Talia Al'Ghul and Bane to take down Batman and Catwoman.

The Dark Knight Rises to face The League of Shadows
Another day, another lofty The Dark Knight Rises rumor. This information comes from a source reportedly within director Christopher Nolan's inner circle, a camp known to litter the Internet landscape with falsehoods and misinformation in order to throw the core fanbase and everyone else with a tiny bit of vested interest off their righteous path.

This news comes with a confirmation that it's quite possibly true. Then again, maybe not. We all know that Anne Hathaway is playing Selina Kyle in the upcoming sequel, and the actress herself confirmed on Monday that she will be appearing in costume as Catwoman. Today's news suggests that, while Selina's role in the beginning of the film is ambiguous, by the end of the story, she will no longer be a villain, but rather an ally of Batman.

The duo will reportedly be taking on The League of Shadows in The Dark Knight Rises' breathtaking climax, which will be filmed with IMAX cameras. The League of Shadows is rumored to be headed by the as-yet uncast Talia Al'Ghul and her possible love interest Bane (Tom Hardy). Joseph Gordon-Levitt will also be a member of The League of Shadows, but it is not known if he will be playing Black Mask, as previously suspected. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will definitely be playing a bad guy. That much is true. Supposedly.

As Badass Digest, the source of this information, points out, the folks in Christopher Nolan's inner circle are purposely spreading false rumors, and a lot of them only have partial information. So take all of this with a smile and a grain of salt, and remember: Sometimes the speculation is more fun than actually sitting through the finished film itself. Heck, it's half the journey.

The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

I'd imagine Bane will break Batmans back just before Bane dies (I just picture Bane holding Batman about to break his back but all in the same movement Batman knocks him back into some sort of machinery that kills Bane, with Catwoman the only person there to save Batman and pull him to safety)

That's just how I think Nolan will end his trilogy.

@jayaottley I'm anticipating people dying in this last act. Bane probably will, MAYBE Catwoman. Who knows. @ejk1 is right, we should just chill out. But it has been fun guessing.

Now that sounds so Nolanesque, but you know people have to die or learn their lessons happens with every Nolan flick...
Bane dies, Talia learns her lesson as does Catwoman and maybe takes the fall saving Batman from Bane :)

After credits sequence Talia and Bruce getting jiggy with it to make Damien :D

Until everyone is confirmed in their roles, I'm not going to speculate with this. It's gotten stupid, especially with Nolan's own camp reportedly spreading false rumors.

Ahh mate, I know Nolan doesn't do sappy romance, I was talking in the sense of cold calculated love alla Bonnie & Clyde and Natural Born Killers/True Romance.

I think alot of people will be disappointed if he doesn't do the 'Break The Bat' route as well we've seen the sheer excellence he can do with the Batman universe prior to his first 2 outings.

But if Bane & Talia are romantically involved then those are my 2 theories for it. Whose know maybe Nolan is doing that but just merged the two together, and well it includes the concept of breaking the bat.

Oh man i just envisaged a scene where Bane is close to breaking Batman's back but Talia stops him, and she tells Batman that 'she won't defeat him in honor of her father cause he was hisr best student and that she can break him at any god given time.'

But then that would consist of Talia knowing Batman's identity.

Either way I'm interested in the route this is going and proud either way with either theory I scribbled down below

@jayaottley Not horrible, but I doubt Nolan will make it that sappy, he tends to go for a colder approach to his characters, he's not much of a romantic, if you ask me :P

We're also assuming Nolan will go the "break the Bat" route with Bane. That isn't a 100% given, ya know. He might give us a totally different kind of Bane with different motivations. Either way, I'll be happy.

Its the only plausible way I can see Talia and Bane being romantically involved.

I can hardly see the other theory i have in mind developing, which is that she comes to Gotham to find Batman and during the course falls in love with Bane, who is a criminal underlord, under that of Black Mask. In which the two (Bane & Talia) become madly in love and in content to show his love for Talia, she asks him to break the bat in the name of her father for revenge.

How does that theory sound @dan1

@bawnian-dexeus O okay. Well I have no idea how he made that back in 1885. It would have been very hard and probably take at least a decade.

Would be interesting if Nolan played it out like that. Villains in love lol. Wouldn't be the first time, as Harley and Joker spring to mind (though that relationship is more one sided. Much akin to the way Lex Luthor treats his girlfriends).

Fair point, it was just a random thought, then maybe Talia falls for her most promising student, who is Bane

    4 years agoby @jayaottleyFlag

  27. Dan

@jayaottley As @pjwolsker said, Talia is Ra's Al Ghul's daughter, so wouldn't it make more sense, from a personal stand point, that she'd be the de facto leader?

    4 years agoby @dan1Flag

  28. Jay.A.Ottley

hmmm @pj i guess so or maybe she is just like his pawn, or maybe the most worthiest and most powerful and promising of all the league assassins to break the bat and continue with the league's plan which was to destroy Gotham

    4 years agoby @jayaottleyFlag

  29. Pjwolsker

@jayaottley well id think Talia would be the leader since her dad ran the League

    4 years agoby @pjwolskerFlag

  30. Jay.A.Ottley

Have any of you lot every thought that maybe BANE is the leader of the League of Shadows, henceforth why him and Talia are romantically involved with each other and well JGL is who we want him to be BLACK MASK?
