‘The Bourne Legacy’ Sequel Gets Summer 2015 Release Date

Universal Pictures has handed out an August 14, 2015 release date for their Untitled Jason Bourne Sequel, a follow-up to last year's The Bourne Legacy. The sequel will be going up against The Smurfs 3 in that date.

Jeremy Renner is reprising his role as Aaron Cross in the action-thriller, with Justin Lin coming on board last month to direct. Anthony Peckham is writing the script based on characters created by novelist Robert Ludlum. No story details have been released at this time, and it isn't known when production may begin.

In related news, the studio has issued an August 8, 2014 release date for Lucy, putting it up against The Hundred-Foot Journey, Into the Storm and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Writer-director Luc Besson's film stars Scarlett Johansson as a young woman who develops into a dangerous assassin after being taken captive. Morgan Freeman and Min-sik Choi co-star in the action project, which is currently in production.

Untitled Jeremy Renner Bourne Sequel comes to theaters July 15th, 2016 and stars Jeremy Renner. The film is directed by Justin Lin.

The Bourne Legacy was released August 10th, 2012 and stars Jeremy Renner, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach, Edward Norton, Donna Murphy, Michael Chernus, Corey Stoll, Alice Gainer. The film is directed by Tony Gilroy.

Lucy was released July 25th, 2014 and stars Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Min-sik Choi, Amr Waked, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Johan Philip Asbæk, Analeigh Tipton, Nicolas Phongpheth. The film is directed by Luc Besson.

    Without Tony Gilroy being involved, I'm very skeptical of this new film. I will probably see it, but I'm sure it won't be as a good as the other 4 since Gilroy isn't involved.

    Bad idea. They'd be better off waiting until 2016 since summer 2015 is so crowded , there's a good chance a Bourne movie will drown
