‘The Beaver’ Gets New Release Date

The Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster dramedy will now open in limited theaters May 6, before opening wide May 20.

Summit Entertainment has pushed back the release date for The Beaver, starring Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson, from a limited run March 23 to May 6, before opening wide May 20.

According to Variety, Summit had firmed the film's previous spring date in December, after delaying it because of controversy surrounding Mel Gibson.

The film centers on a depressed man (Mel Gibson) who uses a beaver hand puppet as therapy.

The Beaver will world premiere at the South by Southwest fest on March 16.

The Beaver was released May 6th, 2011 and stars Mel Gibson, Cherry Jones, Jodie Foster, Anton Yelchin, Riley Thomas Stewart, Zachary Booth, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeff Corbett. The film is directed by Jodie Foster.

    I agree with the below posts. Mel Gibson is great on either side of the camera. I'm looking forward to seeing this, and with Jodie Foster in it, that is icing on this cake. On a side note, I hope Mel rises above all the negative issues in his personal life.

    I am looking forward to this film. Maybe it will be the Kids Are All Right of 2011; the script was great and love or hate his personal life, Mel Gibson is a great actor.
