‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Set Photo Hints at a Familiar Enemy Presence

Director Marc Webb continues to tease fans with cryptic photos from the set of his superhero sequel.

Director Marc Webb has continued his teasing ways on Twitter, posting yet another photo from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. These shots seem to be getting more cryptic by the day, following Monday's photo of a camera operator and yesterday's shot of an Oscorp device. Today's photo shows a cryptic locker inside the Oscorp facilities. In the Marvel comic book arc, written by Brian Bendis, this is the very same locker that Peter Parker and Eddie Brock discovered the Venom formula. Does this mean Eddie Brock and Venom will be showing up in the sequel? We're not quite sure at the moment. The "Happy Birthday" hashtag is puzzling as well, since it is not the director's birthday or the anniversary of Venom's first comic book appearances. Take a look at this photo from the set, and be sure to check back tomorrow for the latest addition to our growing set photo gallery.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released May 2nd, 2014 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Felicity Jones, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

I wish I knew enough about comics to be hyped as much as you guys! But I guess I like surprises.

@Michael-Kolesik yeah i agree i hope Venom doesn't get dragged in to this because i would rather see Green Goblin again but yeah i like the Amazing spider-man more than Ultimate

@david-r-garcia-jr I know that, but this is supposed to be the AMAZING spider-man, not Ultimate Spider-man. And frankly, coming from a fan of the comics, Ultimate Spider-man kinda sucked.

it would be awesome if they filmed ASM3 at the same time without saying anything. and i would not mind VeNoM in future ASM movies, but the formula could always be seen in ASM2. but eddie brock shouldnt come around on film again until after ASM has had the black suit., and is ready to give it up.

The rumors of the suit changes for ASM2, i would welcome that, if those are in the nature of the black suit. if not, there is no real need for a suit change.

@Michael-Kolesik i believe they are talking about the Ultimate comics not the original storyline :) in that storyline peter's father developed the symbiote with the help of eddy brock's father trying to cure cancer

Dear movieweb, have you read the f*cking comics? The symbiote (later known as Venom) was first taken by Spider-man in the Secret Wars series. So do your research before you make ignorant statements.

@chirep_1 i agree, i bet they find the venom, disregard it from it story to focus on electro and at the end flashback to the plane scene showing what the venom did to brock and peters parents.

Venom:The original one now exists for 25 years and the Ultimate Venom for 10 years. It's both their anniversaries!

The amazing spiderman worked as it only had one villain, and then a hint of one at the end. If they are going to show Elecktro and then have Osborn isn't Venom pushing the villain list a little bit too far, especially if the Rhino rumour comes true too?

well isn't J. Jonah Jameson supposed to be in this sequel? if so that means daily bugle and therefore Eddie Brock could be in this.

Very Abrams like, only... too much has been shown.

Venom obviously won't be in here, so I seriously hope no one takes this too far and starts fanboying about cramming villains into a film. Been there, done that, these guys aren't complete idiots. It is interesting though. I'm sure it would make more sense if we knew whose (or whats) birthday it was.
