Paramount and Skydance announce that production is officially underway in New Orleans with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Paramount and Skydance Productions officially announced the start of production on Terminator: Genesis. The interesting thing about the following PR is that they are not calling it that anymore. They are now calling it the 'Terminator Reboot' (or rather: Terminator). Here is the official word from the studio.

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions announced today that principal photography is officially underway on the Terminator reboot, directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World). The film is shooting in New Orleans.

The new film is written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar; Battle Angel) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). David Ellison and Dana Goldberg (World War Z) of Skydance Productions are producing. Executive producers are Skydance's Paul Schwake (Star Trek Into Darkness), Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison (American Hustle), Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.

Terminator stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, and Byung-hun Lee.

The Terminator franchise launched in 1984 with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the title character and spanned three subsequent films, which have earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Paramount will distribute the film worldwide on July 1, 2015.

Terminator Genisys comes to theaters July 1st, 2015 and stars Emilia Clarke, J.K. Simmons, Jai Courtney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Matt Smith, Jason Clarke, Byung-hun Lee, Douglas Smith. The film is directed by Alan Taylor.

@castortroy1911, T3 wasn't all that bad. Arnold was more ripped than he was in T2, and the movie took the story were it needed to go; the dropping of the bombs. As nightmarish as it was, the story could not be complete without that event. Of course, we could have done without all of the unnecessary humor. "Talk to the hand!" and "I'm back!" were annoying! In the next installment, Arnold better not say "I'm back!" It's like Gary Coleman saying, "Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis!?" Enough already! It's lame now and Arnold doesn't realize, he does not look cool saying it! Make it stop, PLEASE!

I will reserve judgement until I see some actual footage. I always hold out hope that one day a "Terminator" movie could bring back the awe of "T2" but so far, no luck. T3 sucked and T4 could have been good if there had been a competent director at the helm and the script had not been written by a retarded seven year old.

I agree James William Turner. "Can you sail under the command of a pirate, or can you not?"

@jasonkat, there are already plans in the works for a Twins sequel. Being a Terminator fan, I'm kind of disappointed by this news. I was hoping for things to get wrapped up. It was well on it's way. Reese just had to b sent back at the end of the next movie. Now we're stuck with the bad taste of Mcg's Road Warrior Terminator in our mouths. Who's idea was it anyway to attach the goofy Charlie's Angels director to such a badass franchise!? Salvation wasn't a exactly a turd, but it fell way short from what the franchise needed to get the momentum going again, into T2 territory. I just hope the T-800 endoskeleton doesn't get changed into some fuqued up design, like they did with the Enterprise in Star Trek. Off all the endoskeletons that have come out, James Cameron/Stan Winston's T-800 is still the one that has remained the most liked, and has really stood the test of time.

Im starting to lose hope for this.
The movies Arnold Schwarzeneggers has been putting out these days. he might as well take a back seat with Nic. Cage, they just dont sell anymore. they have nothing to keep fans coming.
You cant be serious that this may actually be any good. hell, When was the last good Terminator? 91? 92? and im talking about 1-2, , the rest have been c-d plus movies. So he's in big trouble if this fails. his career is over. after this its back to twins, junior, kindergarten cop. ! lol

This is not a sequel to Terminator Salvation ; the new films are movies on their own and take place within their own universe and are in no way releated to the previous films
