While it was thought that the cast of Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Western The Hateful Eight will be made up of those actors who participated in his live stage reading of the screenplay, more actors have since been rumored for the movie. Earlier this summer, it was reported that the acclaimed director was targeting Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence for an unknown role. Now comes word that Viggo Mortensen may also be up for a part in the anticipated thriller.

Quentin Tarantino is said to have been 'boisterously' discussing a role with the Lord of the Rings star out in the open, at the Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca. The pair were reading from the script, and it was overheard that Viggo Mortensen is wanted for the role of a ruthless gang leader.

The Hateful Eight will begin shooting in November for a late 2015 release. Set and shot in Wyoming, the story follows a post-Civil War bounty hunter who becomes trapped in a blizzard.

While the cast has not officially been announced, it is thought to include Bruce Dern (The Confederate), Samuel L. Jackson (The Bounty Hunter), Kurt Russell (The Hangman), Amber Tamblyn (The Prisoner), Walton Goggins (The Sheriff), Michael Madsen (The Cow Puncher) and Tim Roth (The Little Man) and James Remar.

Viggo Mortensen offered no comment when asked about taking on this possible role in the Western.
