Superman Revealed in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'!

Director Zack Snyder shares the first photo of Henry Cavill in his new Superman suit while discussing story and character details in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justic'.

Just in time to celebrate truth, justice and the American way this 4th of July Friday, Warner Bros. and DC Comics has debuted a first look at Henry Cavill as Superman! This comes just a few short days after we saw the actor dressed as Kal-El's alter ego on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set. Check out the image courtesy of USA Today. Then read on for more about the movie from director Zack Snyder.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Superman

When it comes to deciding on the better superhero in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Zack Snyder doesn't have a favorite. According to the man, who also directed Man of Steel, bringing new characters such as Batman and Wonder Woman and Cyborg into the movie makes for a 'thicker, denser and more epic' movie, and it is also a building block towards setting up Justice League, tentatively scheduled for 2018.

Zack Snyder claims that going to work on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a thrill every single day.

"It's not an un-fun job, I will say that."

New story details are revealed, including the fact that we'll see Clark Kent working at the Daily Planet, alongside Lois Lane and Perry White. Superman will also travel to Gotham City and be introduced to new threats, one of which is Lex Luthor. Zack Snyder talked about evolving the character for new audiences in 2016.

"The fun of trying to figure out what to put in front of him that's difficult."

The director also talked about collaborating more with star Henry Cavill this time around.

"We've both created this guy and we can push him around a little bit. The more time I spend with Henry, the more he's Superman to me."

Zack Snyder goes onto say that Superman will be affected by the new heroes he meets on earth, and that his perspective on humanity will be changed by them. He goes onto discuss the fact that he wasn't looking to bring Batman into the Man of Steel sequel, but it was Christopher Nolan's trilogy that proved to be the deciding factor.

"I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie, but on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in."

The director didn't want to introduce Ben Affleck's Batman with an origin story, instead relying on the vast 75-year mythology for a different take, bringing a road weary Bruce Wayne to the screen for the first time.

"It's cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys."

While Zack Snyder wouldn't exactly explain how the pair meet, he did explain why he chose the v in the titles instead of Vs.

"Suffice it to say there is a 'v' in between their names. [That's] to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way."

So far, the director has only done a handful of scenes with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck on set together.

"It's never really been done and it's kinda cool."

It was speculated yesterday that Gal Gadot may be done shooting her scenes in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but Zack Snyder says that's not the case. They haven't filmed the actress in her costume yet.

"She's working out and getting buff and ripped."

About all the fan anticipation, the director had this to say,

"You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it's Batman and Superman, let's just be honest. I don't know how you get bigger than that."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes to theaters March 25th, 2016 and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

@undeadslayer4 I only noticed it because I saw a very large high res version of it. Check it out!

@undeadslayer4 It does to an extent, but there are some modifications that I think are great. For instance, if you notice in Man of Steel, his belt buckle thing was round and here it is square and it has an 'S' in it. That's just one example, but there are many other changes. :)

REALLY Snyder? Then why the hell do you put such an emphasis on calling it "Batman vs Superman?" Why isn't Batman a role player and this is "Last Son of Krypton" or something and Superman's story continuation as you're pretending it is instead? Gimme a break. This movie reeks of "Hey, let's add this, that'd be cool!" despite the claims of it modeling Marvel's careful, planned approach to the uber-character extravaganza flick and it's gonna suffer for it.

@themoviefanatic...So far this is what I' ve read about WW and how she'll be interpreted in the movie:

    Wonder Woman's costume:

This Wonder Woman is ripped right from the comics and has a "traditional, yet sleeker" costume that's "battle ready." She'll have a blue leather skirt, silver-armored cuffs that reach to her elbows, golden tiara (with a design of some sort in the center, possibly the red star) and a variation of the traditional-looking red top (no word on additional armor on it). Her overall appearance is described as "Amazon warrior princess" and definitely not an urban reimagining.

    Wonder Woman's weapons:

Wonder Woman will have no less than FOUR weapons, including shield, sword, spear, and of course, the traditional lasso. It's also noted that she will wear the shield on her back, Captain America style, when not in use.

Wonder Woman's screen time in the film:

Her character will be introduced as "Diana" in the film initially before we ever see her as Wonder Woman. She will have a fair amount of screen time and will team up with Batman and Superman for the final battle against an un-named villain who may be working or controlled by Lex Luther. Her origin will be intentionally vague, but she is brought into the fold to show that there are other superheroes in the universe other than Superman.

@bane5000 I'm looking forward to seeing how Wonder Woman will look, now that we know how Superman and Batman will look in the movie.

@undeadslayer4 It's similar but hardly the same as it was in Man of Steel. As @bane5000 said, the differences are there however subtle they may be. And the changes are proportioned well. Not too overwhelming that it is unrecognizable to his look in Man of Steel but somehow discreet enough that if you weren't looking for it the detail can possibly be overlooked. Non-the-less it's different and obvious at that. It doesn't look the same but it does look like a modified version of the suit as if he had tailored it to his liking.

  14. Bane5000

U can see the subtle differences in this new suit

The arm bands and the bands on the suit are more separated, the belt looks different with a square buckle with an S in it now, the S on his chest is smaller, even the boots have a double line design at the top...Also I see they changed his hair too, the hairline is raised on the sides

Now lets see how WW and Batman look in full color :]

@ObiWanShinobi Mate, if that's what I made it seem like, I apologize. I most certainly didn't know all along, I was as much in the dark as the rest of you. All I knew was that "vs" would be a terrible idea, however when "v" came out, I rethought it and it made more sense.

    7 months agoby @BrizzyFlag

  19. gumperman

Simply AMAZING! I'm so glad that the changes they made to the costume are not so extremely different from the first film, that it's too different. I actually like this costume better. :)

  20. ObiWanShinobi

I'm not disputing what happens in the movie, I'm just disputing the fact that you claimed you knew all along. You were in the dark like the rest of us.

& Ok, I took a step back & reexamined your comments and you make alot of sense about the title. It's cool that you actually figured out the meaning of the 'v' phrasing, but it's not like you knew all along (which is what you're basically saying in the first comment) because you definitely would of shared your thoughts behind it in the older articles. Snyder helped you reached the conclusion of it all. That's all im saying. @Brizzy

@superman81 Yes, it does sort of pop when you look closer at it. And I agree. The overall look is superb. He actually matches the look of Batman in that aesthetic sense that they belong to the same world.

  23. Mieko_Siede

@ObiWanShinobi Yeah, I was somewhat hoping that the spit curl would be incorporated to this look as it progressed. That isn't to say that we won't see it though. We'll see.

    7 months agoby @mieko-siedeFlag

  24. Superman81

@mieko-siede the side detail, belt, boots, S Symbol, and gauntlets have all been tweaked. I actually like this suit better than MOS and I like his overall look. He looks like he has a few years under his belt as Superman

    7 months agoby @superman81Flag

  25. Brizzy

@ObiWanShinobi Dude, im far from a know it all. I just know how the justice system works, that's why I had a problem with "vs" but not with "v". "V" is a completely different thing than "vs". "VS" is unnecessary, because we already know that they will face off, it's inevitable.
"V" is a completely different thing because that suggests that Batman REALLY has a problem with this guy. He is taking him in the lawful approach aswell as the physical. It tells us about the story.
