Steve Guttenberg to Return in ‘Police Academy 8’ and ‘Three Men and a Bride’

Kim Cattrall and Sharon Stone have been asked to return to the slapstick cop sequel as well.

Steve Guttenberg, a film legend that dropped off the Hollywood radar after finishing Three Men and a Little Lady in the early nineties, is poised for a comeback soon. In a recent interview with The Sun, the actor explained that he was set to return to the two franchises that made him a household name. First up is an eighth film in the long dormant Police Academy series, which would see all of the living alumni participating on some level. That even includes Kim Cattrall, who appeared as Steve's love interest in the very first Police Academy, and Sharon Stone, who appeared in Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol. About the upcoming project, Guttenberg explained:

We are doing a new movie and it is going to be great fun. A script is being written and so far it is really great, everyone from the original movies who is still around will return. I know Kim and Sharon have been asked but they haven't said yes yet. It would be really great to have them onboard. I loved doing the Police Academy films. They gave me so much opportunity, and I've got nothing but good memories of that time. I turned down Short Circuit 2, too and I now wish I hadn't. Sequels are a lot of fun and you get to hang out with all your friends. I wish I hadn't turned those down.

Guttenberg also explained that another one of his most popular films Three Men and a Baby is getting a second sequel, which will see him reuniting with Tom Selleck and Ted Danson: Tom Selleck, Ted Danson and I are looking to make another Three Men and a Baby movie. It's called Three Men and A Bride. The script is pretty much written and we are really keen to get that made. We're very hopeful.

There is no official word on when these two comedies will be heading into production. Stay tuned for more Guttenberg news as it breaks.

I'm with HorrorHoundWeekend.Com and tremendoustroy67. There definately SHOULD be a Police Academy 8. I mean, we've seen Rocky Balboa come back in the ring in Rocky 6, John McClane kicking some terrorist ass again in Die Hard 4, John Rambo gunning down Asians once more in Rambo 4, Indiana Jones fighting foreign douchebags while finding more treasure again in Indiana Jones 4 - and coming up, Axel Foley coming out of retirement for one last adventure in Beverly Hills Cop 4. People are interested in the past. So in short, we want Police Academy 8!

I agree with you Police Academy 8 (I can't even believe it got this far) is totally unnecessary It sounds to me the collection agenciesd have been calling Mr. Guttenberg and he thought " need quick cash ... I know I'll make another crappy cop movie" as for Three Men and a Bride I to thought this was past do considering the first 2 did well But I honestly thought Tom Selleck had fallen from the face of the earth.

Police Academy 8? No thanks. Three Men and A Bride I expected to happen a long time ago, not really surprised about that one.

I thought Steve Guttenberg was deads! Serious!

What ever happpend to him after he 80's!? The last film I saw him in was 2002's "P. S. Your Cat Is Dead!".(Which was a lousy film BTW!)
