‘Spider-Man’ Reboot Wants Christoph Waltz for Its Villain?

Michael Fassbender had previously been interested in the bad guy role for this new Marc Webb Marvel adaptation.

Christoph Waltz considered for Untitled Spider-Man reboot's villain
Inglourious Basterds Oscar winner Christoph Waltz is being considered by Sony for the villain role in their upcoming Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, according to The Playlist.

The site reports they heard rumors of this casting move earlier in the week. Now the story has added validation from the latest issue of Production Weekly. Which states that, "the studio is interested in Christoph Waltz for the villian." The report also mentioned there has been an "undisclosed choice" made for the Aunt Mae role in the film.

It still isn't clear exactly what villain Waltz would play, although The Playlist reports the rumored villain will be The Lizard. We had previously reported back in June that Waltz's fellow Inglourious Basterds co-star Michael Fassbender was up for the same role. But he opted to star in X-Men: First Class instead, where he will play a younger Magneto.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further updates regarding the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, which stars Andrew Garfield, as soon as we have more information.

The Amazing Spider-Man was released July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Campbell Scott. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

I disagree Slysnide, He was comical evil!!! That guy made you love his performance but also made you want Pitt and Co. to totally f*ck him up!! I wanted him to die so bad!!! He was evil as hell!! This news is the ONLY reason id go watch this lame ass Spider -Man movie!! Hate who they got to play Spider-Man and I hate Marvel Studios and Sony for only caring about themselves

I can't picture him playing a serious villain after Hans Landa, whom was evil granted, but far more comical, and the most enjoying Nazi to watch being evil. And considering that "IB" was a dramedy, then it worked, but in a superhero film which takes itself seriously? I still can't picture it working.

I took one look at the picture and I say either Green Goblin or Chameleon. I've read a few issues and I've noticed that Greeny is more of a friend but not a friend at the same time.

They lost me when Andrew Garfield got the part of Parker. It's a shame because Waltz is such a good actor, he'd be a good villain.

This dude made 'me' nervous in Inglorious Basterds, that's how good he was. If he's the villain for the Spiderman reboot, I might have to change my opinion of the idea, because I have mad respect for Waltz.

Insert should be correct in his assessment. It makes complete sense for the Chameleon to be the villain. He was the first villain in the comics. Plus, he is not one of the top tier villains, which is the smart way to set this up. Osborn, Brock, and Connors need to have their backstories established before they become take up their villainous mantles. These three men have serious connection not only to Spider-Man, but Peter Parker as well.

Green Goblin should be built up for a second or third movie. They should introduce Norman as a strong supporting character before turning him into the Goblin.
