'Spider-Man 2: Extended Edition' DVD Coming in April

Timed to coincide with the release of 'Spider-Man 3'.

DavisDVD reports that the long standing rumors of an extended edition of Spider-Man 2 are finally true.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing Spider-Man 2: Extended Edition in late April, timed to coincide with the web-slinger's latest big-screen adventure Spider-Man 3.

The site says that no details about the disc are available yet, but they anticipate more information in about a month (if that). If you can't wait that long, however, Fox-owned cable network FX will premiere the new extended cut on January 2nd, 2007 at 7:00PM EST/PST.

The FX broadcast also will include all-new sneak peek footage at the upcoming sequel.

Spider-Man 2 was released June 30th, 2004 and stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Alfred Molina, Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons, Donna Murphy, Daniel Gillies. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.

Spider-Man 3 was released May 4th, 2007 and stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.
