We also have four clips and a new poster for James Ponsoldt’s indie sensation about a hard-drinking teacher trying to sober up.

Sony Pictures Classics has released the first trailer, four clips, and a poster for the indie drama Smashed, the latest from director James Ponsoldt (Off the Black). Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Kate, a teacher whose life revolves around drinking and partying with her husband Charlie (Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul). With her job on the line, Kate decides to get sober, a choice which may threaten every aspect of her life. Take a look at new footage from this Sundance sensation, along with the one-sheet.

Smashed Poster

Kate and Charlie like to have a good time. Their marriage thrives on a shared fondness for music, laughter... and getting smashed. When Kate's partying spirals into hard-core asocial behavior, compromising her job as an elementary school teacher, something's got to give. But change isn't exactly a cakewalk. Sobriety means she will have to confront the lies she's been spinning at work, her troubling relationship with her mother, and the nature of her bond with Charlie.

Smashed was released October 12th, 2012 and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aaron Paul, Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Mary Kay Place, Kyle Gallner, Bree Turner. The film is directed by James Ponsoldt.

Was about to watch at least one of the trailers, but then I scrolled down to the poster. Haha, silly hair physics.

Only watched the first trailer, but I think this looks like a good little movie. They made Mary Elizabeth Winstead look very different... Or maybe they did nothing at all and she just has absolutely no make up! Still cute as ever though.

@mcleve02 Absolutly agreed. The Master and Django look to be some of the best. Cant wait for Looper and Lincoln as well.

@gallagher agreed... I think Looper and Lincoln are two sleepers as well... not really give us much, but teasing the crap out of us!

@skywise @mcleve Yes indeed. I expect The Master and Django to be on my Top 10 lists of the year.

@gallagher Especially when we have films still to come such as The Master, Lincoln, Django Unchained etc... The end of 2012 is a real powerhouse of movies!

@gallagher That would definatly be my second fav so far. I loved both movies so much though. Of course I will definatly be keeping my eyes open for the ramining releases of the year. Usualy it is hard for me to pick a single favorite movie but this has been an unusual year.

@skywise You're a smart man, sir. I try not to pick an absolute favorite until the end of the year, but it's definitely in my top 5, probably even top 3. I still have a soft spot for Moonrise Kingdom:)

@mcleve02 Haha. I'm definitely watching this when it comes out, hopefully earlier. Was one of the biggest buzz-worthy titles out of Sundance, next to Beasts of the Southern Wild (amazing) and Compliance (amazing)...

idk... how do you feel @gallagher seems like more of those virtually unknown films I hate until you force me to watch them!
