Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to star, produce and possibly direct an upcoming biopic of the famous director and choreographer Busby Berkeley.

The film will be based on a book by Jeffrey Spivak entitled Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley. The filmmaker revolutionized the musical and changed the world of choreography. He pioneered many conventions still in use today, including the famous "parade of faces" technique, which lends an identity to each anonymous performer in a close-up. Carefully arranging dancers in complex and beautiful formations, he captured perspectives never seen before.

Ryan Gosling, who most recently directing and wrote How to Catch a Monster, will be producing with Marc Platt. The producer is best known for his box-office shattering Broadway show Wicked and is currently working on Disney's adaptation of the Broadway musical Into the Woods.

The project is still in early development. No cast or production schedule has been released.
