‘RoboCop’ and ‘Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers’ Get 2013 Release Dates

Sony Pictures confirms their commitment to moving forward on the long gestating RoboCop remake.

Sony Pictures has handed out release dates for two very different movies, with RoboCop set for August 9, 2013, and the animated sequel Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers debuting December 20, 2013.

As of now, RoboCop has the August 9, 2013 weekend to itself, with Red 2 and The Smurfs 2 set for release a weekend earlier, on August 2. Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers also doesn't have any direct competition on December 20, 2013, although it opens a week after The Hobbit: There and Back Again debuts.

RoboCop recently confirmed that The Killing star Joel Kinnaman will portray the title character. José Padilha will direct from a screenplay by Joshua Zetumer.

Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn are directing Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers, although no cast members have been announced yet.

RoboCop was released February 12th, 2014 and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel. The film is directed by José Padilha.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 was released September 27th, 2013 and stars Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, Benjamin Bratt, Neil Patrick Harris, Terry Crews. The film is directed by Cody Cameron, Kris Pearn.
