While the film has a slow burning plot it also features a fine performance by Harvey Keitel. Playing this corrupted man who is forced to face his inner demons while investigating a brutal crime. Werner Herzog's very loose re-make is more of a re-telling of the original 1992 cult classic. Though more loopy than the the original, Nicolas Cage brings plenty of realism to the role of a morally corrupted, devastated cop in a devastated city.Bad Lieutenant is an entertaining and weird film all together. But it features Cage's best performance, as of late, and has made me re-visit the original cult-classic that started it all....more
