| This really brought back a lot of great memories for me as a kid! I really enjoyed playing the games. | I could have dealt without seeing the Mario Brothers show. It was cheesy back then, and it's still cheesy today. |
If you grew up in the 80's, you'll remember the Legend of Zelda Nintendo video games. It's one of the best David-vs-Goliath games out there - Link takes on Ganon and protect the Princess Zelda. Well, it was such a success, they made it into a cartoon series during the Super Mario Bros. Super Show. And now, those shorts are on a 3-disc DVD set.
The Match Game on the first disc is pretty fun. It's kind of hard, too. What you need to do is memorize the pictures of the cards. You really need to remember which cards had which picture on it. I had a difficult time doing it, but I was never good at memory. There's also a really cheesy episode of the Mario Brothers show on the first disc called 'Wild Thing' with Moon Unit Zappa; I still don't understand how this show stayed on the air for an entire season.
Now, the second disc has a Zelda trivia game. I kicked butt in that just from knowing a lot about the game; see, playing video games as a kid really paid off in the end! Oh, and some more cheesy Mario Brothers shows.
The third disc doesn't have any games; it's got a collection of drawings and character sculptures from the show and game. I really enjoyed looking at them and seeing what went into making these characters. Once again, childhood memories were there! I miss my teen years! You can also download some of the images to your computer (PC only) from disc three! I chose Link as my new wall paper - I'm such a nerd!
I don't know about anyone else who's in the 20-30 year old range, but my goal was beating Zelda. It was the hottest video game to play, of course except for getting to level 8 on Super Mario Bros. I never really watched the animated series, but after seeing it on DVD, I'm not sure why I didn't. It was one of those cheesy video game cartoons. The release of the DVD is coming just in time for the newest of the Zelda games - Twilight Princess, on the Nintendo Game Cube.
I don't think the Mario Brothers show lasted too long which kind of made it bad for these segments to get off the ground. But now, you can enjoy the whole series without any breaks from Mario and Luigi.
