"Simply the greatest comic book movie ever made and More!"

"Holy shit Batman!"

Yes Robin, I enjoyed it too and so will just about every single person on planet Earth be they

a Batman fan or not for this film trancends the comic book genre and meets the needs of just about any cinema goer. Wanna see Batman fighting Joker with loads of action and explosions kids? Fine you got it. Wanna see a highly intellectual story and perfomances of genuine quality from a cast to die for folks? Sure you got it.

It would be easy to applaud this film and merely lay all the praise on the astonishing performance of Heath Ledger as the genuinly unsettling anarchistic terrorist Joker but that would be doing a disservice to so many others.

Christian Bale must now surely be regarded as the definitive Batman/Bruce Wayne as he totally owns each persona.

The Highly underated perfomance of Aaron Eckhart as Harvey "Two face" Dent deserves a special mention. This is as much his movie as Ledger's or Bale's.

Maggie Gylenhall brings a more mature essence to the role of Rachel Dawes than Katie Holmes was probably capable of.

Gary Oldman thankfully is granted more screen time this time and gives a perfomance of subtle quality. His portrayal of the evolution of James Gordon in The Dark Knight should not be underestimated.

Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, and Eric Roberts give solid back up to the lead characters with quiet effectivness but ultimately the film will be remembered for one iconic stand out performance........that of Heath Ledger.

I was, I admit slightly bemused and disappointed by the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker when first announced he had been given the role, as was a great many Batfans around the world. Oh how wrong we were.

After seeing The Dark Knight the only man alive who will be disappointed with Ledger's casting must be Jack Nicholson who sinks to No.2 in the Joker top ten.

Should Ledger get an oscar because he's dead? Of course not..... he should get one based on a perfomance that will live long in film goers memories because he has left us a perfomance to treasure that will rank up there with legendary bad guys Hannibal Lector, Frank Booth, Anton Chigure, Darth Vader etc al.

The film has everything needed to satisfy fans for a long time to come. In short Nolan has struck gold again. A third installment? Not sure how he can top this, but hey we sure hope he gives it a go.

Maybe Wayne Manor/The Batcave will be rebuilt next time around? The one and only thing missing from this movie. Ok I know i'm being greedy but Nolan has now made a bar so high for himself it's hard to see an area for improvement.

See it I promise you'll be a Batfreak.....just like me. Ha ha ha ha ha

Yes Wayne Manor is "being rebuilt" as said by Alfred in one scene in this movie. The cave is still there, but as they are rebuilding the Manor on top, there's no sense in using it here. I agree I wish we could've seen the Batcave, but theres always #3...

So you think Gyllenhaal was a better Rachel Dawes huh? I like Gyllenhaal's previous works, but she didn't do it for me here. There's that lawyer-esque scene in which she is interrogating Lau about giving his clients up... the mob... and the whole time she is smiling..?!! That's stupid. I believe Holmes would have portrayed a more realistic lawyer/ person. You just can't walk around smiling and light-headed, and airy in a movie like this and expect to be taken seriously. She wasn't believable. Not like Holmes was.

Good review though. You should check out mine.
