"Better than the 2008 version."
I think I saw this when it first came out, but I can't be sure. Parts of it looked familiar when I saw it this time, and some did not. I think I caught parts of it on TV now and then. I know just about everyone hated this movie a lot. That's why I didn't rent it for a while. And when I did rent it, I watched all the other movies I rented first. Well, now that I have finally seen this movie, I am glad. I actually thought this was better than 2008's "The Incredible Hulk." This one had a better story, plot, and overall just better. With the newer one, it's unclear why exactly they want to capture Hulk. In this one they make it clearer, and explain everything better, including HOW he became Hulk. Even though it's an incredibly long movie (2 hours 15 minutes) I think it needed every scene in order for you to care about each character, and what goes on in the film overall. With the newer one, it has a running time of about 1 hour and 50 minutes. And I felt that one could have been shorter.
The story I like a lot better than the new one, as I explained. It is a little hard to follow, but it is well explained. I don't want to ruin it, because you think you might know it, but you don't. Let me just say there's more to it than just Hulk smashing things.
The acting... well, I think that Eric Bana did just decent as Bruce Banner. I thought that there are better choices out there, but he did as good as he could have done I think. In "The Incredible Hulk" Edward Norton plays Bruce Banner, and I thought he played the part better than Bana, but he still accomplished Bruce Banner well. Jennifer Connelly plays Bruce Banner's love interest Betty Ross. I think this is one of those rolls that just about any old actress can play. But Since Jennifer Connelly is a good actress, of course she did well with her role. I also liked the chemistry between Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly.
The director is Ang Lee. I like some of his directing, and sometimes not so much. I like how he takes his time, and doesn't rush scenes. I think that most hated this film mostly because they thought it was boring. I personally thought that it was entertaining the whole way though. But the stuff that I didn't like, and thought it added a cheesy feel to the film were when they used the split screen. Some scenes it worked well, but others it just looked like they were showing off all the stuff they can do, even though we already know they can do it, because they did it just one minute ago. It was way too repetitive, but overall, I liked Ang Lee's directing.
The visuals are stunning. I mean the Hulk is incredible. It's hard to tell it's even computer most of the time. I really liked that. Plus the Hulk looks better than the 2008 version.
Overall, a movie that should get more credit. I think it's a very good film, one that I recommend, but maybe take into consideration that most hated it. The only thing that stops me from giving this a 4.5 is the fact that I think they should have gotten a more well-known cast, and that annoying split screen thing.

and well i am all for an adaptation that actually follows a comic book well. however, i do not read the comics, so i guess i never really knew that it was a bad interpretation of the first. and I agree with Raven and Vis on the action thing. the newer one had more action... but poorly plotted, and for some reason i just wasnt too interested while watching it. IDK why. and this one was entertaining, even though it wasnt a thrill ride of action and shootings galore.
and well, TDK, of what ive heard Broke Back Mt is a good film. plus it has Ledger in it, so show some respect.
That was an insult towards The Dark Knight(the user, not the movie)
If that insult was too hard for you to wrap your head around TDK, let me explain it...read slowly: you "NO WAY" for Lee's Hulk because Lee directed a gay cowboy movie. That gay cowboy movie was released 3 YEARS after Hulk. SO, either you have some sort of future-telling powers and you saw Lee would be filming a gay cowboy movie after Hulk OR you didn't quite have an opinion on the movie until Lee's OTHER movie was released and you said to yourself "well, this tears it."
In short, base your opinion on the movie on the movie, not what other films the director did. I can see it if someone like Uwe Bole directed, but Lee is an award winning director, so come up with a better reason for not liking his Hulk...MINE was a good reason, I give you permission to use it as long as you quote every time
and thanks MovieNerd. I know a lot of people hate this movie, and many totally disagree with everything I stated... so I'm surprised some asshole hasn't come on here and done name calling yet. lol. thanks
Oh, and in your fourth paragraph, about the directing, you've got a few mistakes:
"thought it added a cheesy feel to the film were when the (I think you meant to use "THEY" here. Not sure, though.) used the split screen. Some scenes it worked well, but others it just looked like they were showing off all the stuff they can do, even though we already know they can do it, because they did it just one minuet (Should be "MINUTE") ago. It was way too repetitive, but overall, I liked Ang Lee's directing."
Thought you'd like to know, lolz. Anyway, this was a great review, like I said, though I disagree with a lot of it, like I ALSO said, lolz! Keep up the good work! LOLZ!
