"I Expected More From This"

[Sorry about the obnoxious wording. I promise that I'll edit this later]

This movie was completely pointless. Terrible directing, story, and also quite random. A simple, laid-back, country man risks his life trying to defend a briefcase of money that has no relevance to himself against a homicidal psychopath who - regardless whether or not he gets the money - will kill that man because of his careless "deed". in addition, there were too many useless characters brought onto the screen which seemed like their only purpose is to gain 5 minutes of screen-time and then get killed-off. not to mention all those 'head-scratching' tactics that the country man had partake in to evade the killer. There were just pathetic and a little embarrassing to watch. I strongly felt that this film was lacking suspense which is what is sought out for. A thriller that's not thrilling? It's nothing more than a half-baked idea released in a 2 hour depth. You'd think that the Coen brothers could pull off a project like this, but all that they did was conduct a movie with aggravating action and dialog and too many disappointing and confusing 'twists' and 'turns'. Thank you Joel and Ethan for wasting my time.

slysnide... A movie is not a book. what i mean by that is a book is much more used as an idea for a movie. the scrrenwriters give their own adaptation on it to which they feel will owrk out best. that's why so many movies differ from the book. So reading a book and watching a movie are two differnt things that should not be compared. but i do see where you're coming from this

This was an excellent movie. If you read the book first, then it'll make a lot more sense, as lots have had the same opinion having not read the book that it's based on. The story's about the change of the culture from the Sheriff's time in service in comparison to 1980 Texas. But they cut out a lot of the Sheriff's backstory to explain these things, killing the themes that the book had. And Chigurh's all about fate, hence why a coin toss is necessary. As for the bounty hunter Wells, he kinda supplies comedy to the film, as viewers tend to like it when Chigurh kills him off (the arrogant Texan bastard), as well as the man in the office building who hired the both of them. Plus, things like this did happen right around 1980 when the violence in the border drug trade started getting heavy. And Chigurh's also a character that everyone likes, in that he's badass, and doesn't take crap from anybody. Hence the car accident in the end was his fate for what he'd done, and the ending being good, since just because the bad guy wins, doesn't mean the movie just randomly cut off. But still a good film. Predictable yes, as it is Chigurh and Llewelyn's overconfidence that brings about the end of the film. This was my #2 fave of 2007.
