I was not sure about this one, however a friend let me borrow it on DVD, I must admit I found this movie quite charming and it reminded me of the fantasy films of the 80's. The story was not taken extremely serious like most recent fantasy films, it was light-hearted and had some great performances from the supporting cast, Robert DeNiro was hilarious playing the closeted pirate and the new star of the film Charlie Cox was simply perfect for the role. Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of "Lamia" was superb, her English accent was flawless. The special effects which I was expecting to be just ok were just as good as any other big budget film like Lord of the Rings. Check this flick out, you will not regret it.
