"I kill people sometimes for money sometimes for nothing."
The book by Elmore Leonard is a much more character driven crime thriller from both the killers and the couple as the movie is just more focused on the character element from the hitmen more so than the married couple. Now the movie differs a little from the book but not to much they did cut out the background of Wayne and Carmen witch would of been nice to see in the film but it does seem a little irrelevant to the movie. The movies biggest problem was the fact that in the beginning of the movie they move straight to the plot and only give you five or ten minutes of character witch isn't enough. There were a couple of scenes in the movie that give you a little insight of what the characters are going threw but then it moves straight to the action. The one thing I did like about the movie was the fact that more time was spent on Blackbird and Richie than Wayne and Carmen I just felt it should of evened out. Thats really the only reason I watched the movie was because Mickey Rouke and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were both good in their roles even though Levitts character is annoying I liked his performance but thats his character and he did it very well. Rosario Dawson was perfect casting for Donna and I think that her part in the movie was executed very well and is one of the best parts of the movie. I did notice that Johnny Knoxville was in the previews but he is not at all in the movie thats really fine with me but really I think if they had added 20 or 30 minutes to the movie it would of been a little bit better. The movie was a bit of a let down it wasn't all that ex-sighting or that interesting it was just alright nothing I would have to have right away unless I found in the five dollar bin.
