WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS (2008)

"A junk-punch in the man-business that really leaves you wanting sweaty ballsack flavor... I hereby sentence you to 6-months hard marriage. "

Diaz and Kutcher play a couple of emotional misfits that get married... and THEN fall in love... in this formulaic rom-com.

Diaz has problems with happiness, satisfaction and relationships that have rendered her wound too tightly for living.

Kutcher, meanwhile, is so afraid of losing, that he never gets to the starting line.

When Diaz is dumped by her fiance in front of all her friends (as she's trying to pull-off a surprise birthday party for him), she flees to Vegas to try to prove that she can 'loosen-up'.

Kutcher, meanwhile, is fired by his boss (who just HAPPENS to also be his father). To escape this latest slight, he, too, runs off to Vegas.

Accompanied by their erstwhile sidekicks, Kutcher and Diaz 'collide' as the foursome is unknowingly boked to the same suite in a Vegas strip hotel. Immediately, Kutcher and Diaz compete to see who can get the better 'make-good' from the hotel rep. Freshly ensconced in penthouse suites and with tickets for every cool event in town, the foursome ends up on a drunken odyssey that ends up (you guessed it) in marital disharmony for our lead couple.

In a final piece of over-the-top set-up for our story, the pair win $3,000,000 in a lucky drop at a slot machine (which they, of course, fight over).

Returning to NY to attempt to annul the union, the pair is shunted by a hilarious Dennis Miller (the judge), who sentences them to 6 months "hard marriage" before he will terminate the union and split the dough.

Kutcher and Diaz believe they can do ANYTHING for 6 months and for 50% of $3m, so they move into Kutcher's hovel and attempt to cohabitate. The judge has also required that Queen Latifah provide marital counseling for the full 6 month sentence. As the couple bumble through their lives, they deliver several fairly hilarious bits, complemented by their supporting cast.

In the end, they grow to love each other, of course (and no ... this is NOT a 'spoiler', since it is 100% predictable, even before you see the film), and resolve their various 'issues' together.

Overall, this is very solid entertainment. It is a decent enough (if formulaic and predictable) rom-com and will keep you laughing throughout.
