"Movie for music lovers like you and me."
|
This movie is only for those of us who appreciate the beauty of music. It’s not a musical film, but… it definitely glorifies the wonders of the sound and the notes and the connecting power they hold.
AUGUST RUSH, realistically speaking, is not what you’d consider a great film. But if you’re looking to be inspired, this is definitely the movie that you need to see this season.
Freddy Highmore (Finding Neverland, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) is pretty convincing as the main character, the musical prodigy kid, eventhough you can see from the movie that when he plays the guitar, the fingers playing it belong to the Kaki, the hand double for the film. She’s the real talent.
The power of this movie, of course, comes from the three maestros behind the music tracks and the original score: Phil Ramone, Hans Zimmer, and Mark Mancina. Having three of those working for your movie will be like having the best toppings on your pizza.
As far as the story goes, Robin Williams’ character is what I find very interesting. He’s the example of a person who thinks life is unfair so he wants to make others feel as miserable as he does. He sees in Aguust Rush, someone he can’t be so he decides to take advantage of the gifted kid.
Blinded by money and greed, Robin Williams’ character is a person who enjoys music but doesn’t believe in it.
In my book, the movie AUGUST RUSH is quite possibly one of this year’s most rewarding family dramas.
