"One of the funniest movies you've never heard of"
Tim Skousen (Napoleon Dynamite Director) has this hidden gem called The Sasquatch Gang. If you even chuckled once at Napoleon Dynamite (before the entire world quoted it to death and ruined the movie) then you will love this film. The movie revolves around a group of nerdy friends named Gavin, Hobbs, and Maynard (fun fact Maynard you may recognize from Ned's Declassified School Survival guide) who are obsessed with sci fi and fantasy movies. They have home made weapons (giant staffs, swords and shields made of wooden sticks wrapped with padding) and practice dueling to perfect their technique. Yeah I told you these guys were nerdy. Gavin is the leader of the pack and has an extensive movie collection known to the neighborhood kids who rent movies from him. Unfortunately Gavin rents his video out to the wrong guys and these bullies decide to hold it ransom. Mean while you have these white trash metal loving guy Zerk (Justin Long) who needs cash quick or else he'll lose his awesome set of wheels. His equally white trashy friend Shirts (Joey Kenn), who ironically never wears a shirt, helps him come up with a scheme to make some money quick. On side note, Shirts character has the same voice as Napoleons brother Kip did but trust me he's much funnier.
Gavin and his crew go hiking through the local forest when Hobbs trips over a giant footprint and lands in what appears to be Sasquatch poo and the adventure beings. Gavin sets out to prove he found Sasquatch prints and poo to get his movie back, falls in love and has best friend drama, while Zerk and Shirts seek to get rich trying to sell local Sasquatch merch while trying to get a Sasquatch expert down to verify the findings thus making their merch more popular. It's a refreshingly original movie that makes a great rent.
