"I've lived by their rules my entire life. I've protected them. envied them. and for what? To be treated like an animal. We are not animals!"
The first two Underworld movies have always been two of my favorite films, so I have been anticipating the release of this one for some time now. I try to not have any expectations when watching a film because I am usually disappointed. This film was different however, it lived up to all the hype as well as my very high expectations. The only thing I would change about the film is the length. I feel there were certain things in the film they could have spent more time developing thus making the film longer.
The casting of all the Underworld movies was excellent with this one being no exception. Michael Sheen, Rhona Mitra, Bill Nighy, Steven Macintosh, as well as the supporting cast were perfect in their perspective roles. Each one of the them showed that they each have talent with Michael Sheen's performance being superior.
I already knew the basic story of the film from flashbacks and memories in the first two. But because of the wonderful writers, the story was still fresh and exciting. I was glad that they did not change the story just for the sake of entertainment. There is no need to see the first two films prior to this one, but once you do you will definitely want to.
I know there are a lot of people who have yet to see the film, therefore I will not write anything that could be considered a 'spoiler'. I will say that I was glad that the movie focused more on Lucian who remains my favorite character from all of the films.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope that it gives you some insight into the film. I do recommend this film highly especially if you are a fan of vampires, werewolves, a good story and a lot of action.
