"Being so "into" the books helped me enjoy this film."
I'm a HUGE fan of the series, but it IS difficult to translate book to big screen, especially a book of 500 pages. The movie is unable to portray the true intensity of the Edward/Bella relationship or the immense difficulty and pain of resisting that which is desired most ... whether it be the allure of romance or the sweet taste of human blood. There were slight changes and in several areas, emphasis was misplaced. I wasn't as emotionally affected by the film as when I read the book. Some casting was off however, as before the film, I'm still in love with all the Cullen characters. The baseball scene was my favorite. Being so "into" the books is what helped me to enjoy this film. Bottom line .... an enjoyable movie to see with my niece, but I'm definitely happy I read the books FIRST ... they rate 5 stars.
