"Gets as old as the title says"

I had pretty good expectations for this movie going in to see it. With it being pretty hyped and Roland Emmerich at the wheel, 10,000 BC was sure to be more than your average movie. The truth is that it shows some nice character developement, good visuals, and a pretty good plot setup...in the first 40 minutes. The rest of this film consists of nothing more than watching three or more men walk across snow covered mountains, thick tropical forests, and finally end up in what seems like acient Egypt (which by the way totally throws off the whole "10,000 BC" concept). There's barely any interaction with prehistoric animals aside from a mammoth hunt (which is pretty cool i must admit), a quick run from killer ostriches, and a face-off with a sabre toothed cat twice (now don't think right away that it sounds cool, when I say "face-off" i mean the cat does nothing more than smell our hero, then jump over him, nothing more, nothing less, twice), and enough scenes that seem to be taken right out of 300 that our beloved King Leonidas might be tempted to leave the theater himself. The almost bare boned plot, along with semi-below average acting, and the limited hints that you are in fact in the year 10,000 BC, makes this disappointing film not even worth your money for the next 10,000 years.
