""Pound for pound action that delivers the great plot line, astounding cast, and overall more than just a 'superhero' movie..""
One of the most hyped and anticipated movies of all time, in my opinion definitely the most anticipated movie to date. The film delivers more than any other regular superhero movie, which is an astounding plot line, a well developed character scheme and using barely an special effects!
Directing: Chris Nolan once again delivers more than what we fans bargained for. The Dark Knight is just an example, or a taste of how creative a genius director can be, and how hollywood can still creative a genuine movie. The writers and screen play also greatly contribute to the success of the film. The story is more darker, more in depth and more intoned with the real, frightening world that we can all believe in. The whole two hours and thirty minutes are almost flawless, and i would wished that it was longer, though it seems they did cut off a couple of scenes to make the movie more shorter. This movie delivers sadness, frightening scenes, dark scenes, emotional scenes, epic scenes, almost every type of emotion that you can think of without the scenes spoiling each other.
Cast:
Bruce Wayne/Batman: Christian Bale is definitely the Batman that all fans desperately have been searching for to grace his presence on the big screen. This film deeply reflects on the coming of Batman, how he adjusts to new situations and how he learns quickly from his mistakes and errors. At some points Batman shows his dark side, and how he controls himself from doing harm, not changing who he is and the superhero that Gotham City needs. As Bruce Wayne, Christian Bale pulls off a more careless, reckless Bruce Wayne that does not resemble at all the characteristics of Batman, so no one can really connect the dots. I do believe that this movie in all its hype revolved around the "Joker" character, but after seeing the movie, the film really lays down the story and development of "The Dark Knight".
The Joker: The late actor Heath Ledger did more than just an Oscar worthy performance, reviving the role of the Joker, and improving it from Tim Burton's Joker. The menace, master mind of the Joker is a lunatic set out to kill and destroy all in good humor. To me, every time the Joker character came out on the screen, I was basically on the edge of my seat, paying close attention and getting chills. It seems as though Heath Ledger lost himself as this villainous character and basically created an alter ego. Finally, an actual villain worth seeing in film that redefines the meaning of the word "evil".
Harvey Dent/Two-Face: Well, when you thought you were just satisfied with The Joker as being the only villain, think again. Aaron Ekhart makes a whole new version of Two-Face, very different from Tommy Lee Jones, but still the same in the comics and animated series. In this sudden change of heart, Gotham's "White Knight" quickly turns into the heartless fiend of Two-Face, using a fair game of chance to murder his victims and do undo what he thinks is wrong in the world. It was very creative to see this character's development, the same with the approach of The Joker. The new villains that Batman has become more of a real threat than any other superhero could possibly obtain. It is just fascinating how well these persons created from a comic book truly adapt to a live action film, that seems so vivid, and so real.
Rachel Dawes: Well, at first when i heard that they recast the character of Rachel Dawes, i was frankly disappointed. I had many doubts of how good Maggie Gyllenhal was going to portray her character, and more or less change it in her own way. As it turns out, Maggie did an impressive role as Rachel Dawes and gives a fan of the first film, something to definitely talk about.
Alfred Pennyworth: Another great character made possible by another phenomenal actor, Michael Caine. In the second film though, we see less of him, and more of two other characters.
Jim Gordon: Unlike Batman Begins, in this film we see Commissioner Jim Gordon beginning to become a big part of this Batman world in which he lives in. I really enjoyed watching Gary Oldman play this character and get into this persona and open a door to other characters like him develop more.
Lucius Fox: Morgan Freeman also obtains more scene time in this film, and still helps out Bruce Wayne in finding what he needs to become a better Batman. It is good to see this character because of his honesty and integrity and goes to show all the kind and caring people that revolve around Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Overall, the movie did surpass my expectations, creating a whole other look at Batman. I do say that because of this movie, i am beginning to like the character of Batman more and more, and what he stands for, what he believes in, and what he does everyday. Like most movies, if not all, this movie contains a few flaws, but nothing big or drastic for any negative comments to be made. Yet another superb movie of the year 2008. And also i do wish to see a sequel, but at the same time, i dont. I just want to see where is Chris Nolan and the writers are going to take the characters from the first two films, and add more or develop them more in a third film.

though i will probably get called an idiot for saying this, but I thought that Christian Bale didn't deliver anything special to the role, like he did in Batman Begins. though I will say he is better than George Clooney, Val Kilmer, and all those other actors who played Batman. I give this a 4/5.
