"Finally, The Tables Have Turned."
Why are the werewolves slaves to vampires? I can answer that question. It's fate. The thesis in this story of vampires being over lycans could never flip flop. It just wouldn't be
right. And has nothing to do with protecting the vamps from the sun. If you really want the cause for this, just look at the werewolves movies against the vampires. There are many vampire movies that's my favorites, but i only have two werewolves movies i liked: The Howling and American Werewolf in London. But that's not a real big help. I mean, come on, do you really want to bet against Dracula going up against the Wolfman. Dr Jekyll would be torn to shreds by The Lost Boys. Bad Moon was a bad film. Lol, Blade against Jack Nicholson in Wolf, not a match, more like execution. I'm not even going to talk about the absurd Howling sequels. It's just inevitable. Werewolves never win, until now. Rise of the Lycans.
Like someone mentioned before, do we really need prequels? What's the point? You know how they end. Nonetheless, they are very fun to watch. Just looking at how the characters were and the positions they were in before the big plot went down. How this became that, what happened here, what happened there. For example, in Red Dragon, it was very interesting to see how Lector was captured and how it led up to the meeting of Clarice Starling. Unnecessary, but a good idea.
Now, Underworld 3 is the best chapter from this series. Way better than the first one, which i think will be known as a true classic, as years go on. However, i didn't enjoy the second one. I didn't even like the subtitle 'Evolution'. The action was good but they seem to distance away from the whole vampire vs. werewolf thing, which is really the main thing, but i really got into this movie, just in the first five minutes. The action never stopped, and finally, some gory scenes are shown. I haven't seen a bloody, gory film, since Saw 5, which is way to long for my fix.
My apologies to Rhona Mitra. She was superb in this film. I was kind of worried that she would be too similar to Kate Benkinsales' character, which i have a dead crush on, but Mitra showed some serious shit. Seeing Tanis again was a wonderful surprise, watching him before he was exiled. Bill Nighy's ebullient rants were enjoyable and funny. By the way, I know he's one of the big top vampires, but why is his freakin eyes always blue? I guess he's just a tense guy always ready for action. I also liked the beginning of the relationship between Raze and Lucian. Michael Sheen reminded me of Moses up there freeing the slaves and everything. Sure it's very early in they year, but this film should be up for an Oscar nomination for best visual effects, which was done with great diligence and passion. I always did like the fact about Underworld that they didn't cheat with making all the lycans CG, and making most of them mechanical and some with real people inside, which shows they really care about the fans. This movie just went all out and i hope this isn't the end. Please give us one final Underworld. Or should they call this prequel, Overworld, because they aren't concealing themselves from mankind, until years past. Just a suggestion.
Although two problems with this film. The absence of Kraven disappointed me; i was really interested in seeing how he would play out. Got my hopes up for nothing. The second isn't the movies fault. Okay, when your in a theater room and there's about 13 or 14 people inside, with about maybe over 50 seats, why the hell would you find a seat, directly, in front of another viewer. To me, that's the most rude act that I've heard of. This stupid bitch, with a tank ass head sits down right in front of me. I sat straight up, because i wasn't moving from that spot. I felt compelled to kick her in the head, but i didn't want to get kicked out. If someone tells me that Kraven was in this movie, somewhere at the bottom of the screen, and i couldn't see, because of dome head, I'll flip out.

Anyway, I was planning on going tonight, but a bunch of my friends wanted to go see Defiance (a film I'd already seen); sadly I gave into "peer pressure." Hopefully, I'll see "Lycans" by next weekend. It looks great, and judging by reviews, yours included, it's will exceed my expectations.
I don't want to sound melodramatic, but call me Zz, or Zany or Zap, or hell; ZanyZap (my real username). I just put The Oscars to hone my anticipation for the Academy Awards; I hate the name Oscar....{ha ha ha}.
Have a nice night.
....Later...
(that was not an invitation to "fight;" so don't even try...)
Once again, nice review, man...
Once again, nice review. I'll be looking for Kraven...
