"We're bloody goin' for it!"

| Statham's acting; Burrows' scenery. Script & direction. Hard to go wrong with a story that is this inherently interesting. | I hate anything set in the '70s. Disco sucked. Free love (as a tail-end to the 60's) was stupid. The music was bad. The hairstyles, attitudes and clothing... OH MY GAWD! Enough already! Couldn't this have all gone down in the 50's or the 80's? |
Statham and Burrows deliver in this very tightly wound pic. The great supporting cast plays as any good ensemble would... not too heavy. We get just enough from them to give us the perspective. These aren't A-listers and THANK GOD FOR THAT! I hate when big names interfere with a story.
Statham is uncharacteristically quirky and not the hands-down badass that so many people expect him to be. Love it. Great range.
Bottom line is that the script, action and direction are all solid and this is a solidly entertaining film that will leave you wanting more (info and back-story on the actual events).
WTF?
Why is it that Lionsgate can't put some damn special features on a disc?
This is one film that is just screaming for special features. It's "based on a true story". There's tons of historical perspective on this thing. Real people... real back-story... real follow-up .
All we get is a few text blocs before the end-credits to tell us what happened to the various assorted characters in the ensuing years.
DAMMIT!
Give us bios, give us timelines, give us interviews with MI-5, MI-6 operatives, give us ACCESS!
This SUCKS!
Lionsgate, pull yer head outta yer ass!
A solid addition to any collection (although I'm gonna wait for it to price-drop to the under-$10 bin).
Well worth the purchase OR rental and a film that will appeal to a wide range of fans.
