"Kate Winslet should have won the Oscar for this role."

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this movie or not. For me, dramas, especially ones with a story of married people, are not a gaurantee that I'll like. However, this movie is so well done, that I couldn't help, but be drawn in to the film from the very first scene. There was just something about it that made it hard to look away, or stor for food or bathroom breaks.I think it was a combination of everything. Including the scenery, interesting story, great acting, and directing.

Like I said, the story is gripping. But by the trailer, I didn't know the full story. I just thought it'd be 2 hours of them fighting. But I was wrong. That's how it appears at first, but there's more than just fighting. The way the movie is designed, is like a romantic comedy, but not funny. Fight, then sorta get back together (note: they're married, not dating). However, there's a lot more to it, but I won't be the one to tell you. But there's more to it than just them screaming for 2 hours.

I'm not a Leonardo DiCaprio fan at all. I think his acting skills are overrated- not bad- but still overrated. I just don't see anything special about the guy. Plus sometimes with his voice and facial expressions, something about him can just be annoying, not sure what it is. However, there was just exception- Titanic. But now there's 2 exceptions after seeing this movie. It must be Kate Winslet. She must boost his acting abilities, because when he works with her, he does great, like Titanic. And Kate Winslet did amazing always. I'm not saying Kate Winslet's other Oscar nominated 2008 film, The Reader was bad, but I think not only did Kate Winslet have a harder role in this, but I personally feel this is an overall better movie. No offense to the Oscar people, but I do think that The Reader is not Oscar Worthy. I mean, the story is slightly dumb (an old lady doing some kid after school), and then after the sex is over, it goes somewhat in a weird, boring direction. This isn't a review of The Reader, but you get my point here. Anyhow, amazing acting. I was surprised to see Kathy Bates as a side character.

Sam Mendes is the director. He did that American Beauty thing I never saw, but heard was good. He does a great job on this movie though. The way he made each and every scene count, and took his time with every second of the film. And the way the characters act is so realistic, and surprisingly scary.

Visuals are actually great. The beautiful house on Revolutionary Road, lovley scenery, and Kate Winslet is pretty.

Overall, a very excellent film. If you have any doubts, like I did, throw them out your nearest window, because this is a very good film that I honestly can't see anyone not liking.

No spell check.
