Tim Burton had a vision, to make Batman a dark brooding character, and not a campy fool. Based on the comic Return of the Dark Knight by Frank Miller, Burton takes us to a world of shadows and makes a superhero come of it. Not much into the origin of the character, the movie jumps right into the action, not to say that the origin doesn't have a large role in the film, it does, but not to the extent of Batman Begins, to which I first off would like to say the films do not compare to each other, this is more fantasy, Begins more realistic. Michael Keaton does a wonderful job playing Batman and a broken and torn Bruce Wayne. It is Jack Nicholson that steals the show however, his performance is one of the best and memorable in the past 25 years, making the joker a funny, yet sadistic psychopath. Other than some plot holes and origin mishaps, the film set another precedent in comic book films,It's legacy will live on for generations, as will its popularity, and if one is looking for more adventure into the world of Batman, watch the sequel, Batman Returns, which is also a visually stunnign film and improves one the original.

I feel you on this movie it was great visually the Joker was crazy I hope that the new one is as great. I think they shouldn't of killed off the Joker in this and brought him back for the sequel.
