""He ate my arm, you selfish prick!""
I wouldn't normally even bother reviewing a movie that I gave .5 stars to, but since there aren't any I thought I'd give a brief word.
This is a straight to dvd release directed by Jeff Buhler. It stars Jesse Metcalfe, who is in TV's Desperate Housewives (which I don't watch), and Peter Stormare, who has been in films such as The Big Lebowski and Fargo.
Metcalfe plays Jack, brother to Lily, played by Kiele Sanchez. Their parents died and Lily went insane, became a ward of the state, and was shipped off to a mental institution. So Jack gets the brilliant idea of pretending he is mental too, in order to get sent to the same place and rescue his sister.
Once there, he meets Dr. Gianetti, played by Stormare, a psychotic himself who is using the patients as guinea pigs. He has concocted a serum called "Orpheum" that turns patients' eyes white and gives them a major thirst for blood.
Speaking of blood, there is a fair amount of it, along with a cat getting its head ripped off and a nurse getting bit. However, despite the blood/gore, the movie was boring.
Plenty of plot holes as far as I'm concerned, and slow, predictable storyline. Pass on this one, please. It's not worth the cost of a rental.
