"Don't get me cornered. We don't have trunk space."
Well, I remember watching this when it first came out on DVD, and the funny thing is, I turned it off. I thought it was really boring. But then I gave it another try, and now it's a favorite of mine! I know it's strange, but it's true. Another weird thing is that I gave it a second try, not too long after the first try. Kind of weird. haha. Anyway, awesome movie. Tom Cruises' best performance, and best movie.
It is about Max, a cab driver (Jamie Foxx; The Kingdom), that one night picks up a hitman (Tom Cruise; Mission Impossible) named Vincent. Max doesn't know he picked up a hitman, but he soon finds out what he really is. He then makes Max drive him around all night so Vincent can kill everyone on his list. Now, that's just the basics, and I will let you find out the rest on your own, when you watch this amazing movie!!
All the actors are at the top of their game! Tom Cruise is not a favorite, but he does extremely well in this one. His portrayal of a hitman is one of the coolest characters in a long time. Jamie Foxx is another actor that isn't a favorite. But in this one, he pulls it off quite well. He is perfect, and Cruise and him work well together.
The director is Michael Mann. Off the top of my head, I couldn't tell you another movie he has done, but the name sounds familiar. I love the way he directed the film. You'd think that watching 2 people in a cab, occasionally killing something would grow old after 2 hours. But it doesn't. If anything, the film gets better and better as it goes on!
The visuals are not a huge thing in the film, however the director makes the visuals actually quite cool. It's set in Las Vegas, where they have all the lights, and it's just cool, in a one word summary.
Overall, a great film. One of the best. All around perfect perfomances, and the works. You gotta see it to believe it.
Oh, and at the beginning look for a cameo by Jason Statham!
