"Brilliant!
Action... Intrigue... Humor... Wit...
Burn Notice is, all-around, my new favorite and this is the best episode yet."
Wow.
What a "summer finale".
We move, along with Michael, Fi and Sam, closer than ever to Carla and her band and are reeled-in to the web of intrigue. Carla is deeply shadowed and mysterious and Michael is a consummate pro at unwinding the web.
Action, espionage tricks, spy games...and we're only in about 3 mintues on the ep.
Of course, Michael manages to get roped-in to help some guy that can't help himself (ironically, on a favor to Fi's new boyfriend) and shows just why he's such a great operative...as he thinks quickly to deal with all the ways his carefully laid plan comes unspooled.
Jeffrey Donovan is brilliant as Michael. This guy's got real chops. When he acts 'inside' his role, he is a hoot. Just great. Bruce Campbell is classic and, of course, Anwar is a pleasure to behold on-screen.
As the episode winds down, we FEEL like we're almost "there" on Carla, but we're dealt a blow with the abrupt end and left wanting FAR more.
Not a HUGE 'cliff-hanger', but a great finish to a rich summer run.
Luckiily, USA has deemed it appropriate to NOT leave us twisting until next summer, choosing - instead - to bring the series back in the 'winter' (not sure what, exactly that means for an exact date). OUTSTANDING. VERY happy I'll still get more Burn Notice soon!
