After bursting onto the movie scene with low budget classic's "Dog Soldiers" and "The Decent", Neil Marshall has giving the Sci-Fi genre a kick in the backside with his new classic in waiting "Doomsday"! boardering on the lines of Mad Max, Aliens and 28 days later he has giving us a non stop action ride from start to finish. now anyone going to see this expecting something different, you will be sorely disappointed. yes, this is another movie with a viral breakout that can't be explained, and turns the victims into flesh eating monsters. only this time it happens in scotland. with pressure growing and to avoid Britan being overrun with the virus, the prime minster gives scotland the ol, heave ho! building an 80ft wall round the boardering areas and seaboard, the idea? no-one gets in, no-one gets out!
Untill that is, satillite camera's take pictures of survivings humans walking the streets. the Government send in a task force team to seek what can only be guessed is, a cure exsists.
With desease finally reaching the wrong side of the boarder, the Government must do all they can before it's too late. all this being explained in the movie in 10 minutes, takes longer to write about the bloody thing!
When the team reach Glasgow and start to search the empty buildings they discover there is life, but not as they know it. to say anymore would spoil it, but what you can be sure of, is that there is blood, gore, medievil knights, tanks and of course...... alot of mohawk wearing natives! sounds stupid right? ......WRONG!! Marshall, in my opinion, is a bit nuts. and it shows in alot of ways throughout the film, but that is only a good thing for horror/sci-fi fans everywhere!! this is another fun entertaining movie from the man with an imagination like no other!
My rating:4.5
