"Good plot, but poor execution."
A young girl uncovers a disturbing secret about her twin sister, who committed suicide just a few months before.
I have to say that although this film is pretty much mediocre in terms of everything. The plot isn't that bad and it does have a good twist at the end, something which always appeals to me. In fact it was only because I wanted to see what happened, that I continued to watch the film.
The film itself though is paced too slowly for my liking; I had high hopes as the Director is Daniel Myrick director of 'The Blair Witch Project'. It takes an eternity to get going and the disjointed aspect of the film, flashback wise, hindered and didn't help the film. It would have been better if we had seen what had happened with the twin sister and her death before the group of friends visited the house in the Bayou for Summer Solstice.
Acting wise nobody stood out at all, Shawn Ashmore I remembered from X-Men and R. Lee Emery from Full Metal Jacket. The rest of the cast I didn't know or didn't recognise. Nor do I have any distinct desire to find out who they are;it could have been anybody playing these parts.
As mentioned the plot in itself is good, it just takes such a long time to get anywhere. For most people I think they might switch off, before getting into this film. Just because of the slow pace. In a way I would say watch the first ten or fifteen minutes try to workout the plot, fast-forward and watch the end ten or fifteen minutes to see if you were right. The bits between are somewhat immaterial.
As with many films these days, I just feel it could have been much better. All it needed to do that was to speed up the pace a little, have a few more events happening and explain things a little earlier in the proceedings. The underlying plot could have carried this movie because it wasn't that bad.
